As many saw coming, mobile games Niantic CEO (John Hanke) revealed some new Pokemon Go information during his most recent panel appearance this week. Pokemon Go updates have been talked about quite a bit lately, happening recently at the Mobile Games World Congress as well as recently while at GDC 2017. During the most recent appearance which happened on Thursday while at the SXSW Conference in Austin, John came forward with the information that the Niantic team are working on a few new things. While he didn’t reveal exactly what these new things are, he did mention that all of these projects have not been spoken about at all by anyone on his team before.
He went on to say “other projects we’re not quite ready to talk about,” it seems that new updates related to player trading, Gym changes, and player vs. player may be in the game’s near future.
Some other pieces of information were revealed, like how the Pokemon Go team has more than doubled in its size since the release of its Gen 2 mobile game update.
He also mentioned how some seem to think that Pokemon Go was a mobile game fad whose moment has passed, saying to the audience:
“People tell me Pokemon Go died down.“
“I assure you, 10s of millions of people are still using Pokémon Go everyday.”
